چکیده

We construct martingales whose 1-dimensional marginals are those of a centered selfdecomposable variable multiplied by some power of time t. Many examples involving quadratic functionals of Bessel processes are discussed.

Unifying constructions of martingales associated with processes increasing in the convex order, via Lévy and Sato sheets

In this paper, we present a unified framework for our previous constructions of martingales with the same one-dimensional marginals as particular cases of processes increasing in the convex order. This framework encompasses our former uses of Lévy sheets, Sato sheets and self-decomposable laws. New examples of processes increasing in the convex order are also exhibited, but we do not know how t...

Connecting Yule Process, Bisection and Binary Search Tree via Martingales

We present new links between some remarkable martingales found in the study of the Binary Search Tree or of the bisection problem, looking at them on the probability space of a continuous time binary branching process.

Vertex Decomposable Simplicial Complexes Associated to Path Graphs

Introduction Vertex decomposability of a simplicial complex is a combinatorial topological concept which is related to the algebraic properties of the Stanley-Reisner ring of the simplicial complex. This notion was first defined by Provan and Billera in 1980 for k-decomposable pure complexes which is known as vertex decomposable when . Later Bjorner and Wachs extended this concept to non-pure ...

Self-normalized Processes: Exponential Inequalities, Moment Bounds and Iterated Logarithm Laws by Victor

Self-normalized processes arise naturally in statistical applications. Being unit free, they are not affected by scale changes. Moreover, selfnormalization often eliminates or weakens moment assumptions. In this paper we present several exponential and moment inequalities, particularly those related to laws of the iterated logarithm, for self-normalized random variables including martingales. T...

Constructing self-similar martingales via two Skorokhod embeddings

With the help of two Skorokhod embeddings, we construct martingales which enjoy the Brownian scaling property and the (inhomogeneous) Markov property. The second method necessitates randomization, but allows to reach any law with finite moment of order 1, centered, as the distribution of such a martingale at unit time. The first method does not necessitate randomization, but an additional restr...
